A LITTLE
about us

Metagirl & the Earth Passengers is a Brooklyn-based rock collective led by Erica Rowell that's been making noise since 2016. Their hook-driven sound — described as "energized" and "personality-filled" by Obscure Sound, with Phonograph Me calling out their "cool attitude" — blends blues, jazz, funk, punk, and ska into driving rhythms topped with "fiery," layered guitars and vocals praised as "strong, expressive and versatile."

And then there are the lyrics. Foxfire Magazine wrote about their latest single "I Don't Care": "There is movement in every part of it, both emotionally and thematically. It makes us feel things that make us want to move instead of staying still." By turns liberating and urgent, Metagirl’s songs have something to say about life, love, art, and occasionally even quantum physics.

Think Buzzcocks meet The Specials, with touches of REM and Kim Deal in the mix.

The band has played all over NYC and beyond, including at some of the city’s premiere venues such as The Bitter End, Pete's Candy Store and Pianos. From Shrine in Harlem to Otto’s, to Brooklyn Music Kitchen, Freddy’s, and Gutter Bar, the band is not to be missed.

LATEST NEWS: Arriving in early 2026 is our four-song EP, Trying to Chalk the Sun. The first track off it dropped on April 17.
